AN EARLIER VERSION OF THE STORY?

A Japanese fansite reports that there is an interview with Hitoshi Sakimoto in the 2002 book そうだ、ゲームミュージックを聴こう! (OK, Let's Hear the Game Music!) in which he states the following:

初めは主人公が仲違いした兄と解り合って行くストーリーだったから、明るい曲を多く書いてたんです。でも途中でゲーム画面見せてもらったら、その兄がゾンビ化して「殺してくれ～」とか言ってるじゃないですか。そこがツボに入りました。そしてその後曲を書き直しました。って言ってんのを昨日読んだ。
Machine translation renders this as:
At first, the story was about the main character getting to know his older brother, so I wrote a lot of bright songs. But if you show me the game screen on the way, my brother will turn into a zombie and say "Kill me". That entered the pot. And then I rewrote the song.

FINAL FANTASY TACTICS... PREQUEL?

Matsuno apparently has one ancient tweet on record [Archived Link] indicating that if he were to give us more FFT, it would be about the Fifty Years War!
